Mmmmmm pickled walnuts and cream cheese on sesameal crackers.
They appear to be Black Walnuts (Juglans nigra) and I have four of them plus an English Papershell Walnut. My lawnmowing contractor is not a happy person during Autumn…I have to do these big harvests before he gets to my property.
I was told, and I’m not sure how correct it is, that in days gone by gypsies in Europe stole children and they stained their skin with walnut juice to make them blend in. The juice is diabolical to remove from skin and clothes, so it wouldn’t surprise me.
Those are walnuts?
I live in the desert and we don’t even have grass.

Nate just got walnut juice on one of his shirts, and it looked like grasshopper spit.
And VegasDad… I guess I was wrong to assume that anyone viewing those pictures would inherently know the green spongy balls pictured were walnuts. The post would be a real head-scratcher without that knowledge. Yep. M R Walnuts. O S A R.
