The worst thing about being in a Turkish prison

Would it be the thin, barely life-sustaining gruel? The routine beatings administered by hardened Turks in the prison steam factory? The dripping waterpipes over your sleeping mat? Your roommate’s incessant crying?

I think it would be all the line-cutting in the gruel line, but not the Steam Factory beating line.

  1. I’d say it would be all the “delight” you’d have to eat. That stuff is gross.

  2. Hmmm…I don’t know, it’s a toss up. You could always stuff a sock in your roommate’s mouth, so that wouldn’t be it. The dripping water pipes…maybe. I guess I’ll go with the line-cutting. But really, isn’t that what shivs are for?

  4. I’d have to say the worst part would be the hole in the ground used for a toilet.

  5. I hadn’t thought of those! How about:

All the hair in the drains
    Losing a sandal
Having to fashion roommate-silencing earplugs from several thick wads of drain hair

  6. I’d say it’s BUBBA, your roommate!

  7. I’ll bet getting your tongue bit out would be a bad thing…..
Did you just watch midnight express dude? If so you should check out the Billy Hayes’ book of the same name. It was adapted into a screenplay by Oliver Stone. There is a cool interview with B. Hayes on youtube. He says Turkey was a much cooler country than depicted in the movie…..But he looked pretty stoned on hash during the interview….

Remember that PM (from Turkey) we worked for that had mandatory military service?….Buuuummer….
    USA! USA!
