A slide of flies

Jill was outside yardworking in the hot, hot sun, and discovered the following natural event unfolding on the boys’ Little Tykes slide. She called inside the (air-conditioned) house to me, and I came out and captured this miniature monster climbing out of what appeared to be a smallish, brown, bug-shaped onion. We shall call him… ‘Cicada’.
